Happy Tuesday! Am I the only one who is already looking forward to Friday?! This week has started off very interesting for me. Life has a funny way of telling you when you need to slow down or when the plans you’ve made aren’t as important as you thought.
If you follow me on Instagram or Snapchat you know that Chris and I just took a mini vacation to Dubai (Wednesday – Sunday). Chris needed to be there for work. Dubai has been on my bucket list so we decided to make a trip out of it. He travels often so I have become very used to short vacations a few days prior to when he has to be there.
Our first day in Dubai, I started feeling very ill, but I just powered through it. I was having flu like symptoms but I wasn’t going to let anything ruin my trip to one of the most beautiful places in the world. Once I returned back to DC on Sunday from my 14-hour flight, I went to my dad’s house for a quick dinner and to pick up Stella. She loves going to PopPop’s house when we travel… mainly because of ALL the treats he gives her that he’s not supposed to, but that’s what grandparents do, right?!? I drove home and went to bed to fight the jet lag.
At 5am, I woke up with an excruciating pain to the right of my belly button. I just knew something was really wrong. I don’t like going to the doctor, but my friend Calli who works in the medical field advised me to go to urgent care right away. So, I took my first “sick” day in 12 years (crazy I know) and was on my way.
Thank goodness I listen to her! My house is one block from the urgent care but I was in so much pain there was no way on earth I could of walked, therefore I drove. Which let me tell you.. it was the longest one block drive of my life. They rushed me from urgent care to the emergency room for a few tests followed by a CT Scan. I was informed I needed to go straight into surgery to have my appendix removed immediately. Following the surgery, I had to stay overnight so they could keep an eye on me.
With that said, my week has been slightly pushed around. I had lots of things planned for blogging that I needed to get done which have been delayed. Sometimes you just have to be okay with not keeping to your schedule. I’ve put all my energy into taking care of myself and making sure I heal properly. And you know, I’m okay with that – sometimes you just have to be. I truly appreciate you all for praying and thinking about me. It means a lot.
In other news….I want to share these photos from last week
